I had an idea a while back that is sort of a variation on this idea – contact lens that make dialated pupils appear to be a normal size.
The biggest problem is that most tinted contact lenses are just that – tinted; so a black background will still appear black, however an opaque ring that becomes a tint (some sort a gradient) might be plausable. Even if the presence of an unusual contact is noticed, the true purpose of the contacts is unlikely to be decerned.
